Maya Wiley is an American civil rights activist and former board chair of the NYC Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) which is an independent and impartial police oversight agency. Currently, she works as an NBC News & MSNBC Legal Analyst. She also serves as the senior vice president for Social Justice at The New School. She serves as Henry Cohen Professor of Urban Policy and Management at The New School’s Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy. On the 27th of August, 2018, Wiley was announced as an MSNBC Legal Analyst. She has also worked for the following organizations:  the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the Open Society Institute. In 2013, she was rumored to vie for the presidency of the NAACP, but the post went to Cornell William Brooks.
